One option is to first install the client and then run the sametime upgrade for notes. Thus the need to upgrade the embedded sametime client. The problem is that you need sametime client version 8.5.2 with Sametime 8.5.2 server. The Lotus Notes 8.5.3 Standard Client ships with embedded sametime 8.5.1.
